TypeBuddy - 2021

The TypeBuddy is a device that helps enable a wide range of people to interact with a computer or tablet. Featuring programmable buttons on the back, it allows people with visual impairments to type quickly and easily in braille.

On the front, it features a qwerty keyboard on the front that enables a quick, smartphone-esque typing experience. This can also be hot-swapped for a large trackpad. Above on the left, there is a D-PAD that can be used to navigate through the UI, and on the right there is a permanent touch-pad that acts like the one found on a laptop.

Being modeled after a game controller, it enables a more natural and comfortable typing and navigation experience for regular users, and provides an easy and effective way for people with visual impairments to interact with their device. It runs on AA batteries, connects to a device through Bluetooth and requires no app or driver installation.
